Does God truly exist? If God exists, is there any proof or reasoning to support His existence? What is the path to realizing God?
Forgotten Light
God truly exists, yet we cannot see,
A presence lost like waves to the sea.
We search for signs, we strain to hear,
Yet silence answers, distant and clear.
Once close, we knew that voice so well,
A warmth within, a holy spell.
But somewhere along the hurried way,
We lost our path; we drifted away.
In endless noise, we drowned His call,
Forgot His love, ignored it all.
Wrapped in the world, we turned our face,
Leaving behind that sacred grace.
But still He waits, a constant light,
Beyond our reach, yet burning bright.
A love that lingers, patient and true,
Waiting for us to remember anew.
If we pause, in silence, in prayer,
We’ll find that God was always there.
Not lost, but near, like breath, like air—
A forgotten truth, a whispered care.
Does God truly exist? If God exists, is there any proof or reasoning to support His existence? What is the path to realizing God?
Many people harbor curiosity, desire for knowledge, questions, and wonder about a fundamental question: Does God truly exist? If God exists, is there any proof or reasoning to support it? Below are some of the most popular arguments that propose evidence for the existence of God:
Ontological Argument: The ontological argument seeks to prove the existence of God through the concept of God itself. In this view, God is described as a being beyond which no greater can be conceived. He possesses immense wealth, power, glory, knowledge, and renunciation. If God did not exist, then it would not be possible to imagine such a supreme being.
Planning and Architecture Theory: This theory suggests that the universe is meticulously organized with planets, stars, and galaxies following mathematical rules in their orbits. Such a structure implies a grand designer, a supreme mathematician who must have crafted this system. This designer is not only the creator but also the one who sustains it to this day, creating a balance in the Earth's atmosphere, ensuring life’s continuity. This supreme mathematician and planner is a being greater than any other — known as God.
Creation Theory: According to Hindu cosmology, the universe undergoes cycles of creation and destruction, each lasting billions of years. This cyclical process requires a cause, a doer, which is believed to be a supreme entity, or God, who orchestrates this ongoing process.
Design Theory: The colors, shapes, and forms of objects, plants, animals, and stars in the universe are strikingly varied and complex. Observing these intricate details may naturally lead one to feel that there must be a supreme designer. This ultimate designer is believed to be God.
Moral Argument: Moral arguments explore how people understand right and wrong and how moral rules develop. Every culture has principles, and all have an innate sense of right and wrong. Acts like killing, deceit, and theft are universally condemned. If there were no God, where would this sense of morality originate? The universal faith in God among millions serves as further evidence of His existence.
Feelings of God:
The Earth orbits the sun at approximately 29.72 kilometers per second, and the sun revolves around the galaxy at 230 kilometers per second (828,000 kilometers per hour), yet we do not feel this. Reflecting on the rotating, moving Earth and universe evokes a sense of God’s presence.
In times of natural disasters, accidents, and pandemics, people feel a sense of God.
The untimely or unnatural death of a family member prompts many to think of God.
The concept of reincarnation, mentioned in Garuda Purana, Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, when seen in life, fosters belief in God.
When someone miraculously escapes a terrible danger, they feel the presence of God.
When someone miraculously escapes or return after death, they feel the presence of God.
Even those who deny God often turn to Him in prayer during crises, such as when a loved one is critically ill in the ICU.
Past Life Regression (PLR): Evidence from PLR suggests the presence of God.
Mystery of Divine Places and Temples: Many religious sites hold mysteries that prompt people to believe in God. Examples include the mysteries of Lord Jagannath and the Jagannath Temple.
Prophet and prophecy: When a prophecy written 500-1000 years ago by a prophet comes true in the present, it attests to the existence of divine power and God.
Incarnations of God: Examples of incarnations like Lord Rama, Krishna, Buddha, and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu provide evidence of God’s existence.
Cycle of Ages: The presence of cycles of ages (Yuga cycles) demonstrates God’s influence.
Artifacts from ancient eras, such as Ram Janmabhoomi, Krishna Janmabhoomi, and the birthplace of Radha, reflect this.
Seeing God: Many saints and sages have claimed to have seen God, offering further proof of His existence.
Experience of Soul. This experience of “soul” could be seen as an affirmation of God’s presence within, a reminder that the divine essence permeates all aspects of life.
Historical Evidence.
According to the Hindu scriptures Mahabharata and Puranas, the city of Dwarka, built by Lord Shri Krishna during the Dwapara Yuga, still exists underwater off the coast of Gujarat in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited the site and paid his respects there.
Path to Realizing God: The most effective path to realizing God is through constant remembrance, deep contemplation, meditation, wholehearted devotion, and complete surrender to Him.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 8, Verse 7, Lord Krishna proclaims,"mayy arpita-mano-buddhir mām e vaiṣhyasya sanśhayam", which means, "With your mind and intellect dedicated to Me, you will certainly reach Me; there is no doubt about this." It is often said that God cares for His beloved devotees even more deeply than a mother loves her child, offering protection, guidance, and boundless compassion to those who dedicate themselves to Him.
The debate over God's existence arises because not everyone can see or feel Him. This inability stems from a lack of both desire and capacity to perceive Him, leading many to question His existence. As per the Bhavishya Malika Upapurana, it is believed that as the Kali Yuga nears its end, God is present on earth along with His brothers, friends, and companions; however, only a few have recognized Him. In every age, God descends to earth to fulfill His purpose , but only a handful are able to recognize Him before his departing. Thus, the question of God's existence continues to persist.
I would like to conclude this article by extending my warm regards, best wishes, love, and gratitude to everyone. Thank you.
